Yes/No Question

Yes/no question คือ ประโยคคำถามที่ต้องการคำตอบว่า Yes หรือ No .ใช่หรือไม่ เป็นอย่างนั้นหรือเปล่า
คำถามประเภทนี้ ในภาษาอังกฤษ จะมี จะมี 3 แบบ ตามลักษณะของรูปประโยคคำถาม คือ

1. ถ้าประโยคคำถามขึ้นต้นด้วย Verb to be เวลาตอบก็ต้องใช้ Verb to be  เช่น

◦   Is Tom a Teacher?

•   Yes, he is หรือ No, he is not

◦    Are they your children?

•   Yes, they are หรือ No, They are not  

2.  ถ้าประโยคคำถามขึ้นต้นด้วย Verb to do เวลาตอบก็ต้องใช้ Verb to do เช่น

       ◦   Do you speak English?
        •   Yes, I do หรือ No, I don’t
           ◦ Does she know how to drive?
       •   Yes, she do No, she doesn’t
    * ข้อสังเกต 
       เราใช้ Do กับประธานพหูพจน์ และใช้กับ I, You, We, They
       ส่วน Does เราใช้กับประธานเอกพจน์ และใช้กับ He, She และ It.เมื่อมี does มาอยู่หน้าประโยค คำกริยาจะไม่เติม s
     

3. ถ้าประโยคคำถามขึ้นต้นด้วยกริยาช่วยตัวอื่น ๆ (Auxiliary Verb) เวลาตอบ ก็ต้องใช้คำกริยาช่วย เช่น

         ◦     Can Tony swim?
           •     Yes, he can. หรือ No, he cannot
∞   ข้อควรจำ เมื่อขึ้นต้นคำถามด้วยverb อะไร เวลาตอบให้ตอบverb นั้น
